This Land has hosted a community engagement event aimed at providing residents of Burwell with an opportunity to find out more about proposals for sports fields at Millstone Park on Newmarket Road. The event was an opportunity for residents to provide their views on options to help shape the facilities that could be included.
The event took place at Gardiner Memorial Hall, High Street, Burwell on Saturday 9th July.
This Land is proposing to transfer 3.8 hectares of land to the Burwell Parish Council for sports pitches and have set up a taskforce to establish the needs of the community and how they can help the Parish Council and the local community fundraise to bring their aspirations forward. Sport is vitally important – it promotes health and wellbeing and encourages teamwork.
The event was the first part of the process whereby This Land listened to the community to find out what facilities they would find most beneficial. Feedback from the event will be passed to specialist feasibility consultants who will look into the viability of delivering the facilities. As well as the construction costs there will be ongoing maintenance and This Land will be looking to engage specialist sports funding consultants to look into possible options to make the project financially viable and sustainable.
