The reopening of the permissive footpath from Babraham Road up to Worts Causeway that was due to take place in November has been delayed until March 6th 2023.
The change of circumstances is due to the water mains contractor discovering that the water main on Worts Causeway was deeper than expected. The contractor will recommence drainage work on site on January 9th, with an expected finish date on March 5th. The permissive footpath will remain closed to the public due to active works along the route of the footpath. The works will also result in the closure of Worts Causeway, in line with the road closure permit.
The second phase of archaeological digs is, however, still progressing on site with the uncovering of multiple bronze-aged artefacts. This is expected to finish around the end of January.
Work has also commenced in January on the main infrastructure works.
This Land will continue to update local residents on the reopening of the footpath following completion of the drainage works on site.
